“If you tell me first, I will answer one question you have.” She sighed. “I knew you were going to say something like that.” He didn’t respond instead he linked his hand with hers and noticed the light mark now on her wrist, funny she had forgotten about it until now. “What is that?” He ran his thumb over the mark. “It’s from a knife, I think.” She furrowed her brow. “Maybe it’s from that reaper thing.” He stopped his thumb and looked at her “What reaper thing?” She cursed in her head. She hadn’t told him about either of these things happening to her. She had told him Chelsea was digging up information on reapers though. Did that count?
Crap. “Are you keeping secrets little fae.” He didn’t actually sound as amused as the statement may suggest he was. “A secret is something that is kept or meant to be kept unknown or unseen by others.” She smiled at him. He didn’t seem half as impressed. “Okay so there’s that old house I keep dreaming about and I didn’t even wanna go to the house because I have seen every horror movie there is and it’s very Texas chainsaw ish but Chelsea was set on it and what kind of friend would I be if I let her go alone.” He stared at her unblinking. “You’re nervous.” He stated after a minute. Fuck him for knowing her so well. “Go on.” He said and began rubbing her thigh “What are you doing?” She breathed as he slid his hand higher. “Just keep talking.”
She sighed and went back to what she was saying “So we all went, well not all, the cureaters were still gone for the pi…pilgrim thing, so it was just my sisters, Chelsea, Cooper and Troy and..” She breathed out as he pushed a finger inside her. “I don’t think the house is actually abandoned it’s clean I pictured more of a cannibal type of thing going on, anyways we.” She moaned as he started pumping the finger in and out adding another. “Keep going.” He said lowly concentrating on her face and what he was doing. “I went upstairs and Troy went with me, we split up, I checked a bedroom and you have to stop.” She breathed through her moans and tried to push his hand away. “Keep going.” He moved her hands off. “He found a black leather journal or something in the vanity and we went to the kitchen, a knife was in the counter and I pulled it out and that happened and then the reaper thing showed up like from thin air.”
She groaned as he pumped his fingers faster, “What did it look like?” He asked adding his thumb to her clit. “Think jeepers creepers, no, never mind that thing is hideous this thing was…awesome?” It came out as a question because she didn’t want to tell him fucking beautiful and she was losing her concentration. “Amy showed up and it bit her or something and then everyone ran and here I am.”
She rushed out as her orgasm began to build. He suddenly stopped and moved so he was over her. “That was incredibly foolish, little fae.” He looked down at her. “How do remember me?” He switched it up. She sighed again and was burning with an ache a deep need for him. “I dream about you.” She muttered. “These dreams let you know you were with me, so what kind of dreams are they?” He smirked down at her and she knew she had to be a million shades darker.
“The good kind?” She shrugged avoiding his eyes. “How good are they?” She laughed now. “No, I answered you already.” He got a wicked gleam in his eye. I think I have a pretty good idea. He leaned in and roughly kissed her; she reacted immediately and pulled him closer. She wanted him and she wanted him now. He yanked his shirt off and then yanked her dress down. He quickly removed her strapless bra and sucked a nipple in his mouth. She moaned softly and then louder as he nicked around it with his fangs. He did the same thing to the other, she could feel how wet she was already from what he had just been doing. He finished removing her dress before sliding her panties off and then his own bottoms and shoes.
The light in the room suddenly dimmed dramatically low. She laughed out loud. “Why do you have that?” She heard him chuckle as he climbed on top of her but didn’t answer. “Let’s see if we can make your memories a reality.” He slammed in without preamble. This was like nothing they had ever done before, except they had, in her dreams. She was a kinky bitch in the past if those were anything to go by. “Like this?” He asked lifting her legs onto his shoulders and driving into her. She couldn’t even answer him she was too busy screaming. She couldn’t believe the sounds coming from her mouth. He flipped her onto her stomach and was inside of her the next breath she took powering into her. He grabbed her by her throat and she loved it. He bit into her neck as he went at her from behind and she exploded screaming his name.
He wasn’t finished he flipped her back over by grabbing her hair before pinning her by the throat and thrusting back into her, she was building again at a rapid pace. “You are so fucking perfect.” He growled in his throat. He leaned in letting her throat go and she didn’t hesitate; she bit into him and cupped the back of his head. He roared and thrust harder causing her to explode, she swore she saw stars. She came twice after that and he finished with a guttural growl on top of her.
He was actually slightly breathing heavier but not by much, he was a God in bed. She on the other hand had her head in his chest as he leaned over her trying to calm her racing heart and breathe normally again.
He chuckled and carried her to his bathroom turning the shower on, the dual shower heads washed over her and she leaned against the wall. The blood didn’t take away soreness from sex; guess that wasn’t classified as a wound to the bodies thought process. He opened a closet and she spotted a LinkBox a virtual system that let you input your information and outfits from your own closet if you had a LinkBox would show on the flat digital screen you could select and they would be duplicated at the new box or you could pick a new outfit from it to make.
He selected something a drawer popped open, clearly where his went. He came back and stepped in with her after that. He wrapped his arms around her and just held her close. She wondered how many others he did this with, then she scolded herself for always thinking of negative things at a time like this. She hugged him tighter and he lifted and moved to where he could kiss her deep again. She felt him ready again, not surprising and he pressed her into the shower wall. He easily lifted her and impaled her on his firm, very hard, very large length. She cried out but he pounded into her ruthlessly. He held her legs wrapped around him with one arm and against the wall with the other why she dug into his back.
After she came twice, she was bone tired and sated. She had bitten him and he bit her so she was in a state of pure heaven. He put a naked her in his bed and climbed in beside her, she laid her head on his firm chest and was out for the count. A soft curse and the bed shifting woke her up. The room was still dark though. She felt his touch and then heard his voice as she moved. “I have to go; I’ll be back before you really get up.” She sleepily nodded and felt his lips on hers before he was gone. She seriously wondered where he took off to during these times.
She couldn’t sleep after that so she wondered into the bathroom and found the stack of clothes he grabbed her last night. A spaghetti strap white and navy flower print romper, a pair of navy flats and a light navy cardigan, he even had a lacey navy thong in the pile. That made her laugh; she didn’t need a bra and dressed quickly. She found a new toothbrush and a hairbrush. She smiled to herself as she went and brushed her teeth and brushed her hair out, she was getting used to the look she constantly had thanks to him.
As she flipped the bathroom light off, she saw him just staring out the window. Then that didn’t make sense, he just left maybe thirty minutes ago, his house was in the middle of nowhere. She saw wings, her heart caught in her throat. Not Reyes, she began inching towards the door when the reaper whirled around and faced her. She forgot how fucking muscular and big it was, it’s red eyes studied her. Its muscles clenched and she knew it was about to move forward.
“Not today Satan!” She yelled she used her air and flung the fire from the fireplace directly on to it and watched as its wings caught on fire. She ran like hell slamming the bedroom door behind her. The lights in the house went out.
All the bedroom doo
rs flew open and her friends ran asking what was going on as the house trembled. Scarlett skidded into the hall already dressed in a maroon halter top and chiffon shorts. “It’s in my room!” She yelled coming towards her. “The other’s in mine!” She yelled as they ran. Clover and Jenna both fully dressed behind them. “Get out of the house!” She yelled to her friends the same time a reaper appeared in front of her. The other one appeared on the other set of stairs and looked down at her friends. Neil launched his seismic boom at it and it dodged it only blowing in the wall along the staircase. “Don’t fight it, run!” Clover yelled at him.
The thing blew Neil back without so much as moving a muscle as it reappeared in the foyer. “We can’t leave you!” Tracy yelled. She shoved as much air at it the damn thing as she could and Scarlett joined her efforts. It actually moved it. She physically slammed into it and it was like hitting a brick wall she fell down the stairs. Falling down regular stairs hurt, falling down marble stairs hurt a lot worse. “You okay?” Alex ran to her and flung out the arsenic daggers that he wielded beneath his skin at the reaper in the foyer. It disappeared. “Fine let’s go!”
All of them charged out of the house and down the driveway. “I really hate running.” Jenna growled out.
“Where do we go?” Chelsea asked. Good question. “We can’t stay on the road.” Clover stated. They looked at the trees and dashed into them. It became apparent these woods weren’t meant to be run through. Jenna pushed her power and started clearing a flat path for them to run along so they didn’t fall on their faces. She heard leaves rustling and the trees started to sway. The ground suddenly dipped.
Tracy and Cooper managed to catch themselves while the rest of them went down like bowling pins. “That wasn’t me!” Jenna yelled. The reapers reappeared right in front of the dip and Jenna shoved the ground where they were standing. They quickly did the warp thing again and were gone. They stood and kept moving, she didn’t take her pills so she didn’t want to use the Cimmerian unless she had to. One warped in their path and Clover shot her bolts of electricity at it and hit its shoulder. It let out a feral sound that sent fear down her spine.
It was pitch black out here and trees were everywhere, it was impossible to be quiet while running across the branch and leaf covered ground. “Shit!” Chelsea yelled as she tripped and fell, she shifted as she landed and a little red fox took off with them. The ground had a drop off none of them seen until they were actually dropping. They dropped down a hill and like tumbleweeds. They landed in a wide river and the water was freezing. She could touch the bottom and there wasn’t a current. “Ahh, a fish just touched my leg!” Scarlett yelled. The water was past their knees.
She hit something in the water and felt…hair? “What the hell?” She reached into the water and felt a face she screamed and jumped back. “What is it?!” Clover asked and felt in the water she pulled her hands out with a thick heavy chain. She tugged it and it rose out of the water. “This isn’t old.” Tracy pointed out at the black chain. Neil yanked the chain and the body flew up, the chain wrapped its neck. It was a fae named Miranda or had been Miranda. She was naked and her body was a mess. Neil dropped the chain and they hauled ass out of the river up the other side.
As they ran the reaper popped in front of her and she didn’t have time to stop from colliding with it. It caught her in its arms; it was freezing, “Get the hell off of me!” She let her Cimmerian mist fly from her palms it wrapped around him and he flung her down, hard as it began swirling around his body. Jenna grabbed her and helped her up. They ran and her head started spinning again, they hit a road and her head began ringing. She turned in time to see the reaper snatch Tracy. “No!” She let her cimms out and they flew at the reaper screaming at it. It tossed her to the other one who warped with her. It looked at her and smiled before warping away. Her cimms circled around before giving up and gently evaporating away and back to her.
She had no idea how long they walked, they had kept moving through the trees and now they were lost and her head was back to hurting, she wondered if the pills caused this, it wasn’t supposed to hurt she was just supposed to be one with it. She was starting to see the pills had been making her separate, like half of a whole. If she ever wanted to be actually normal, well the normal she was supposed to be she had to stop taking the pills. She had a bigger problem than that, it took Tracy. Was it at that house? How far was it from here?
None of them spoke, how could they let this happen? She was in charge of a whole entire legion and couldn’t even protect one single fucking being. “Don’t beat yourself up; this was not your fault.” Alex said sharply. She squeezed his hand. “He’s right, I won’t ever speak to you again if you blame yourself, and none of us protected her.” Scarlett added. Her sister grabbed her other hand. They walked a little longer and then a fleet of SUVs’ slammed on their breaks a few feet ahead of them. Straykova guards piled out and ran towards them.
The four kings were with them. Hades practically engulfed Jenna and Storm went to Clover. Reyes and Khaos came to them. Scarlett had to let her hand go when Khaos pulled her to them. Reyes looked at her before cupping her face gently and as he kissed her forehead the ache went away. “How do you do that?” She asked once again awed by a show of just a smidge of his ability. He didn’t answer he pressed a quick kiss to her lips and then asked “I saw the cameras, that should have never happened.” She could tell he was angry. “It took Tracy.” She pulled away from him. “Search the woods.” Storm said to the guards.
“What are they going to do?” Jenna asked. “Look for your friend.” Hades answered her. “Yeah, and if they find her what are they going to do?” Scarlett asked again. “They won’t approach them, they’re trained better than that, they’ll tell us if they find her and well go to her.” Reyes said his brothers nodding.
“What? No.” She shook her head at him. He raised his brows “No?” He started leading her towards his own private car, Alex tagged along with her. Her sister’s and their cureaters got in the car with them and Chelsea and Cooper tagged along with Clover. “I have your bag.” Alex handed her, her purse and she opened it digging her phone out. The first text made her stomach drop.
CHAPTER SEVEN
The text read, they want the journal, they’re coming for me. “Where are you taking us?” She asked. “Somewhere safe.” Reyes answered. “I need to go to Troy’s.” He glanced at her “For what?” He said darkly. “I think it went there.” He didn’t respond but took an exit. “You know where he lives?” She asked. “Of course I do.” He scoffed. “I wasn’t letting my future wife hang around someone I knew nothing about.” Alex made a humming sound and she just looked at him, future wife? That made her warmer than she thought it would and her heart etched him on it a little more.
As soon as they arrived at Troy’s she sensed something was wrong. The front door was cracked and the drapery was torn down from his front window. They all climbed out. “There’s no one inside.” Reyes said looking at her. She didn’t even ask how he sensed that, she had no idea what Reyes could and couldn’t do. He walked behind her and she pushed open the front door.
The house was trashed, the furniture was over turned his flat screen TV was face down on the ground. Little blood splatters were on his light hardwood floors. She quickly made her way through the rest of his house. It had been torn apart. She had the journal at her house on her night stand. Would they go there? Shadow was there! “He’s gone sweet pea.” Alex said softly. “I know, I need to get Shadow.” Reyes grasped her hand and led her out of the destroyed house. That thing had two of her friends.
As they pulled up to her house it was even worse, so were her sisters. They were completely vandalized. She climbed out and walked to her caved in front door. She looked at her house and walked through the rooms. “Shadow!” She called out. She heard a body hit a door upstairs. She jogged up her stairs her feet crunching over the broken picture frames on the floor. Her upstairs was destroyed as well. She knew the journal was gon
e her room was unrecognizable. She shoved open her bathroom door and Shadow launched herself at her. He was taller than her on his hind legs and she braced herself hugging his furry body. She pulled her hand away from his scruff and noticed blood. He didn’t seem hurt though. She looked closer and noticed dried blood around his mouth. He had bit them hard enough to draw blood and yet they just locked him in a bathroom? “We should go.” Reyes said. She nodded and left her room. They made it back outside and Alex hopped into the back with Shadow.
She was quiet on the way to too wherever they were going. Reyes was on the phone the whole time about the situation she was dealing with. This wasn’t his problem and now she had gotten him involved in it. He drove a little ways out from downtown and pulled up to a huge smooth glossy black and dark gold building that said Straykova Suites on it in giant gold letters. She didn’t know he owned hotels until just now. A valet rushed forward to greet them.
She stepped out with Alex and Shadow and Reyes came around to hold her hand. “I have a room here for you as well Alex; the others will be with you.” Alex nodded and thanked him. Money wasn’t an issue so they could stay anywhere they wanted. “Reyes.” She was going to tell him just that. “Just let me do this.” He looked at her already knowing where she was going with this. She nodded and sighed.
They walked across smooth black marble flooring where two black glass doors slid soundlessly open. The huge lobby had smooth off white marble flooring and futuristic leather furniture situated in a waiting area. It was huge. A pretty human woman with shoulder length black hair was behind the front desk with another pretty full-blood. Their names were Anne, and Maggie. “Keys Maggie.” Reyes said to the vampire. She placed three keys cards down on the counter and smiled at him. “How are you Anne?” He asked the other woman. “I’m good, how are you?” She wouldn’t look at him. She knew what that meant. She glared at him. Really?
