“I think I just got myself in trouble.” He picked up the cards and walked her towards a row of glossy elevators. They rode the elevators to the eleventh floor. They stepped out onto a light gray and tan designed wide runner. “Your room.” He pointed out to Alex. Alex was in room 1007, “Were in 1011.” Reyes gestured up the hall. He handed Alex a key card and walked her to their room. He held the card in front of the door and a light went from red to green and she heard the lock unclick. He pushed the door open and stood aside why she and Shadow went in. She stepped onto smooth dark and light gray marble floor, As she walked she passed a kitchen area with top of the line appliances, the room was open and long, a dining area with a dark brown table with eight white and dark brown fabric chairs were around it.

A sheer curtain hung across glass doors that led onto a balcony. A dark brown wood divider hung from the ceiling and stopped above a long glass blocked fireplace that set atop a marble finish. On the other side was a living area with a flat screen on the wall in the center of a built in entertainment center. Beyond that an office and then two bedrooms, one was just its own room done in dark brown and off white and the other was the bedroom that went with the rest of the suite.

The room had soft carpet with a large light gray rug under the large four poster bed. A TV was on the wall across from it, two lavender chairs were in the room and the door to a beautiful bathroom was open where she could see a large jetted tub against the end wall and the golden handle of a large glass shower. It was gorgeous. “Do you want to get cleaned up?” Reyes asked. She nodded. “A LinkBox is in the closet everything else is in the smaller closet. I’ll be with the wolf.” He looked at Shadow who cocked his head at him but turned and trotted out of the room. He kissed her cheek and she shut the bathroom door with a sigh.

She showered and put on floral print shorts and a tight black tank crop top that stopped a few inches above her belly button ring of a small purple flower. She brushed her hair out and her teeth again and then went to find Reyes. He was in the living room just getting off the phone when she came on. Shadow was lying in the dining room asleep. Reyes turned and looked her up and down before wrapping his arms around her and sitting her on the couch beside him. “I think you should stay here until we get some lead way on this.” She shook her head. “I can’t do that, I have to find them.” He stood now. “You don’t trust me to find them?” She sighed again. “No, I do, that’s the problem and I can’t just sit here and do nothing.” She huffed out.

“You can’t go after them; you aren’t strong enough, just give me some time.” She looked down at the carpet. He lifted her off the couch then and carried her into the bedroom. “I will end this all for you, very soon little fae. I promise.” She looked up into his orange eyes and knew he sincerely meant that. “I don’t want you to get hurt.” She mumbled. “Are you worried about me little fae?” He grinned. She rolled her eye and shook her head “Of course I worry about you Reyes I lo..like you.” She couldn’t believe she almost said that. He knew exactly what she was going to say based off how he was looking at her; he didn’t push her though instead he just kissed her long and hard.

“I’m gonna go see what I can do, feel free to explore the building, there’s a private library on the next floor.” He kissed her again and led her to the room door with him before kissing her a final time and leaving. She immediately went and threw on a pair of black tennis shoes and pulled open the door with Shadow behind her right as her sisters were about to knock, their own wolves crowding the hallway.

“So, are you ready to ignore the sit here and wait request?” Scarlett asked. She grinned and nodded. They grabbed the cureaters, Chelsea and Cooper and went to the upper floor. The library was very modern row of sleek white computers were against one wall, a few rows of book shelves were in the room. “I don’t think the abandoned house is their evil lair.” Chelsea stated as they got situated in the room.

They tore the shelves apart digging up anything they could find why three of them hit the SearchNet.

It was almost eleven when they stopped and she realized she hadn’t eaten all day or taken her pills, those were gone now anyways, she hadn’t seen them in the ruins of her house. She felt fine thanks to Reyes. They all headed back to their rooms agreeing they would go search tomorrow. As she entered her room the voices she heard stopped. Shadow let out a low growl and she stroked his head. She inched towards the living room and looked in at Olivia, very close to Reyes. The iced blonde gave her an icy smile and she saw she was leaned into Reyes her hair pulled to the side. “Oh, I’ll just go.” She said awkwardly and turned back around.

“Widow.” Reyes called her name but she ignored him and shut the door. Shadow nudged her hand comfortingly.

She almost smacked into Scarlett who was also on her way out of her room. She wordlessly fell in step beside her. They rode the elevator down to the empty quiet lobby. “There never going to go away.” Scarlett sighed referring to the vampires the brothers fed off of. “I know.” It would be a huge problem for her to deal with. The hotel had a nice outside patio area they found and she sat on one of the cushioned outside chairs. Where would they be? She refused to go down the path of them being gone.

She put head in her hands and groaned, what was she doing? She was with Reyes by his own definition what a “couple” was she never asked her one question yet either. She couldn’t depend on him to take care of this, he wasn’t a huge talker and when he did decided to divulge some information it was in a cryptic manner. Where the hell were her friends? Tenebrous Ruinous. She snapped her head up. What the hell? Since when could the Cimmerian answer her thoughts? “Do you have your phone?” She asked her sister. “No, it’s in the room. Why?” She stood up “I need to look something up.” She started back towards the building her sister and companions with her. She entered the hotel and as she did saw Reyes getting off of the elevators with Khaos and the two blondes stepped with them. She pushed open a door that led to the stairwell and they started to quickly make their way up them. They had made it up four before she decided to just take the damn elevators. They went down the fourth hall. Scarlett yawned and it became infectious. “You’re spreading your sleepy.” She yawned. “I didn’t get much sleep last night.” Her sister gave her a sly smile. She laughed knowing what she meant by that.

The doors dinged open and inside was Reyes and Khaos, neither of them looked happy, not that they glowed with joy usually anyway but she could sense he was a tad irritated. He eyed her before pulling her into the elevator whereas Scarlett stepped in on her own. She moved to let Shadow and Brawny in and the doors slid shut. As they reached their floor he didn’t speak he made a clear indication she was to come with him. Khaos gripped her sister’s hand and mumbled something to her. “I’ll text you.” Her sister huffed following him.

  CHAPTER EIGHT

Reyes shut the door and spoke as soon as they were inside. “You’re avoiding me again, why do you keep running from me?” His voice was cold. “I’m not running from you, this isn’t about you.” She moved away from the door. “You don’t talk to me how would I know that?” He asked this in a mocking tone. “I don’t talk? You don’t talk! You won’t even tell me who I am, or what you even do when you disappear at every random hour imaginable, you fucking asshole!” Why did he drive her so insane? She was usually so calm and unbothered she hadn’t meant to yell at him. “I’m an asshole? You’re ungrateful and jealous of my relationship with Olivia. You want what she gets.”

“Ungrateful and jealous?” She asked in disbelief. If they were a couple this would be their first argument, huh. “I didn’t ask you to do anything, you just did i
t, I didn’t even ask you to pursue me, you just did it and don’t flatter yourself, I would never be jealous of that thing. I don’t want anything she gets; it’s not like you….” Wait, did he? “I’ll just leave.” She said seriously. He didn’t make an effort. “You’re not leaving don’t be dense.” She glared at him. She had enough to deal with than feeling time with Reyes. She walked away with Shadow close by her side.

She went to the first bedroom she had seen earlier. “What are you doing?” She almost jumped ten feet in the air she hadn’t even heard him behind her. “Going to bed, is that okay with you?” She shut the door in his face, childish maybe; she didn’t care. She took her shoes and socks off and climbed in bed. Shadow lay down on the plush rug in the room.

She had no idea how long she stared at the wall, she had probably been lying here five minutes when she realized her phone was in the other room. She cursed and got out of the bed she flung the door open and looked right at Reyes chest. “Uh, this isn’t creepy or anything.” She said sarcastically. He snatched her out of the doorway and pulled her as her feet slid across the floor. He took her back in the master suite and slammed the door.

“Ask me what you wanted to ask me last night.” He said suddenly. “Why?” She wanted sleep, or food, no she wanted both. He gave her a look. “Did I hurt someone?” She asked looking at him. “Clarify what you mean by hurt.” He looked back at her. “Exactly what it sounds like.” He seemed to be thinking of how he wanted to word what he was about to say. “You hurt…a few some ones.” He said after a minute. “How have you been dealing with the Cimmerian before I came along?” He asked his own question. “Xodus, but they’re gone.” She said still processing what he just said.

He visibly tensed up. “How long?” He asked quietly. “Five years.” She said slowly as she watched his reaction. “You’ve been putting poison in your body and for what?” His voice was dark and had a dangerous undertone to it. “How is it poison and what do you mean for what? So I could be normal.” She snapped.

“What is normal Widow?” He regarded her coolly. “You’re not normal, normal is boring. You are stunning and extraordinary.” She just looked at him.

This was the most he’d ever spoken like this. “I don’t know what to say.” She admitted. “What are we even doing?” She asked. “I’m waiting for the new you to realize who she is and stop fighting it.” Was she fighting it? Was that why her memories were locked up. Let us in. Okay the creepy whisper voice had to go. She did not want to hear voices in her head; then again the Cimmerian would have all the memories she didn’t. How did she let it in though?

“Okay, I’ll try.” She said. He came closer and looked down at her, “I can guarantee you will get your friends back very soon, I have some men with some leads, I promised you I would end this all for you and I never revoke on a promise. Get some sleep.” He kissed her lips softly and left the room. She just stared after him.

She instead did some stupid meditation thing trying to let the Cimmerian in as it had put it. What do I do? She asked it in her head feeling silly. Nothing happened for a few minutes and she had just given up when it did finally respond. Sleep. She hear it faintly whisper. That’s was it? She could do that. She turned the lights off and climbed under the covers on the bed. She laid there for maybe four minutes before she almost felt the Cimmerian coaxing her into a deep sleep.

  ***********************************************

It was like a movie on fast forward, she was with her sisters, she was in some sort of classroom, then she was outside of the house except there used to a fountain in front of it and she was sitting on the ring of it, she saw Reyes and his brothers and they hated her? She was with Reyes for a lot of the scenes going forward then she was with Hades?! She was in an older bar of some sort and the bartender was calling her every derogatory term there was for being with Reyes for being what she was, Reyes and Khaos took him the next vision the man was in a basement hanging from the ceiling by metal rings, he was completely unrecognizable and unconscious. Blood ran in rivers down his face and his now shirtless chest, the next vision he was in a shallow grave she was standing with Storm as the others buried him. Had she done that? Over words?. The more she saw the more she wanted to wake up. She and Reyes screwed like jack rabbits and he killed heartlessly with his brothers. The old her was never bothered by this, she was attracted to him more because of it. He would bring her into the basement to help him or them, torturing whoever it was endlessly and needlessly she had picked up a pattern of it mostly always being men, never a woman.

She didn’t think they lived there with her; they would come and stay with her but always returned to the palace at that time. She didn’t understand why she was here at all. She had a very long list of questions growing in her mind. One thing was for certain. She loved Reyes, crazily in love with the dark vampire he was and he told her he loved her countless times in visions of them together. She didn’t understand how she could love someone like him.

If she could throw up she would of, she was a monster. What the hell was wrong with her? She had feelings; she had felt her feel sadness, anger and love. She had even felt sympathy and fought for change for her poor village beings and got them in a better way of living. She wasn’t all bad so why did she kill over trivial things? She used her Cimmerian for bad things, is that why she had started to go bad? If you use dark power for dark things wouldn’t it make sense she would have been affected by it? Why had she begun using it that way anyway?

It picked up where she was in the bathroom of the bedroom the door swung open and a pretty brunette entered the room and shut the door. “What is it?” She asked the girl who must have been her friend based off her reaction to her. “I was with him again.” The girl who she pieced together was a dhamphir said looking down at the floor. She felt sadness and anger but she knew time would come soon enough. It broke her heart to know she would be saying goodbye to Reyes and his brothers but she couldn’t live like this any longer. The Cimmerian was fighting her hard to not give him up, he was her fuse partner. She loved him. He said he loved her but yet he had been with this girl who was her friend, twice.

She nodded and the girl left the bathroom. The next showed her and Reyes and she felt the tension as she watched the scene play out. “What’s wrong?” He sounded the same as he did now. She pushed out of his arms “Are you serious?” She angrily asked him. “You were with Emma.” She stated. “Why do you keep going back to that, it was almost a year ago I have done everything for you to trust me.” He was angry now. She was surprised at the length of time she had been at this house, partially because they had been together that year and more so because back then she should have been at the palace not here.

“She told me she was just…” She stopped to think. Emma lied to her? Reyes never lied he twisted words but he never lied. “You would believe her over me?” He sounded even angrier now. He turned and left and the sequence jumped again. She was in her bathroom her mind was racing regardless if it were true or not she still had to do it. Her heart already ached with the thought of living without him. She was here when who she now knew as Emma shut the door and she looked up and watched the brunette in the mirror watching her. “Hi.” Emma said and she could tell it was forced out. “Hi..” she said awkwardly. Emma approached her and she seen the knife but before she had time to react she had slammed it into her shoulder and yanked it back out again.

She easily dodged her second attempt and grabbed the girl by her throat. She let her cimm mist go directly from her palm to around the girl’s throat. She slammed the girls head off of the sink after that. It was like something clicked off in her head, when she came to she was covered in blood, Emma lye on the floor a mangled corpse of who she just was. She felt nothing no sadness, anger or guilt.

She left the bathroom covered in blood and as she did Storm kissed her cheek and went into where it showed him picking up the body as if it were a bag of groceries. That’s where it always picked up before with her w
ashing her hands and letting Reyes lift her onto the counter and fuck her for what seemed like hours. Right after she just killed someone upstairs she could have easily taken down without harming. She had wanted to hurt Emma.

The dream suddenly jumped she was heaving and she could see shapes in a pit. She tossed the shovel down; Scarlett was beside her and held her hand. The smell was the disgusting smell of rotted flesh. This is where it jumped again and the thing wiped her tears away. It tried to kiss her and she shoved away from it. Its wings rose and it knocked her across the room.

She woke up in her bed and she was naked, her body felt like it had been hit by a truck, she looked at her body and saw dried blood and bruises on her thighs. It had done it again. This was the fifth time and she wasn’t sure how much more she could take; she had been living with it for a month. It killed every legion guard that tried to take her back home. On top of that it wasn’t giving her blood anymore, she was slipping away. Clover and Jenna were dead. He, his accomplice and his twisted lover had killed Jenna the third night. Clover was an accident they had said but they didn’t really care. The brothers were gone, dead. It was just her and Scarlett now and she had cried herself out, she had no idea why she was still alive or her sister. It had taken everything from her already.
