Something was touching her or someone her mind jumped to reaper and she almost flew out of the bed. “It’s just me.” Reyes reached out and lightly gripped her shoulders. She groaned and rubbed her face with her hands. How long had she even slept? How did he find them? Furthermore how pissed was he? She risked a glance at him. Pissed may be an understatement his eyes were darker than she’d ever seen them. He was dressed in a tight black shirt like usual when he wasn’t in his suits and black slacks and a black tie.
It matched his mood, how fitting. She felt exposed and pulled her robe tighter. He watched her do it and seemed to get madder. He just stared at her and his gaze was so intense she didn’t even want to breathe out or swallow. She wasn’t going to speak first; she didn’t know what to say. “Why?’ That wasn’t what she was expecting him to ask.
“Why do you constantly go off on your own and do reckless, endangering things, avoid me, and keep things from me? I am stronger than you by far, do you know how simple it would have been for me to go and get them compared to you? They could have killed you.” His voice was dark and cold. He was right they could have killed her, her sisters and her friends but she had to get them out of there.
“I didn’t want you to get hurt; it wasn’t ever your problem to begin with.” She quietly said. “It was your problem that makes it my problem. I promised I would end this for you, did you not believe me?” She shook her head. “I do believe you, that was the problem. “ They sat in silence after that.
“Didn’t want me to get hurt? Sometimes I wonder if you forget who I am.” She didn’t look at him. “I don’t think I could forget you if I wanted to. I’ve loved you too long.” She immediately wished she hadn’t said that. It was true though. She had loved him back then and she loved him now to a degree if felt like she had never gone a gap without loving him she just had to remember who he was and she did. Her heart refused to give him up. He had probably heard I love you from countless women though so that made her feel a little better.
The room was quiet, she still wouldn’t look at him but she felt his stare burning into her, if she could just blend into the blanket that would have been awesome. “That’s it?” He asked in a softer voice. “I don’t know if I like you, but I love you and I don’t want to lose you but I don’t know if I always want you around me either.” Might as well put it all on the table, she probably just confused the hell out of him anyways. “You won’t ever lose me little fae, I also don’t care if you want me around or not, I’m not going anywhere.” He lifted her chin to look at him. “I have waited a very long time for you; I love you more than you could ever fathom.”
“No you don’t.” That was her grand response to Reyes telling her he loved her, the world was ending. “I spent days, years waiting for you…” He paused she knew this was probably hard for him to voice. Reyes was not a romantic and he sure as hell didn’t express feelings and ones this deep? Yeah, she was dreaming.
“The day I saw your face again you captured my soul all over again.” She was going to be an emotional ball of mush. He was looking right at her she couldn’t look away from him. There was just something about looking in his eyes that made her feel like he was looking right through her. His eyes so fiery orange but so dark on the other side just like he was but they held a sparkle and warmth just for her when she knew he was so cold.
She had always seen it just for her, from her memories of the old them to the now it had never gone away, even though she hurt him and took him away from herself. There was so much chaos going on around them. The legions would begin moving forward with future goals and plans, the reapers were not going to just pack up and move away to the tropical islands and they had so many things to work out between them. Reyes was a hard man to love, she had never given up on loving him before and she knew she wouldn’t start now, even if he did some seriously what the fuck things and drove her insane every other day. She would have to try and start trying to trust him, that was going to be a whole other battle though and she would love to lock Olivia in a cave.
Maybe she could give her to the reapers as collateral. “I just need you to understand one thing.” Reyes said snapping here out of her jumbled thoughts. “What is it?” She asked. “You’re mine; you have always and will always be mine.” She nodded “I already knew that.” He looked at her for a minute before moving.
When he did move it was fast he pulled her to him and slammed his mouth to hers that she was waiting for and gladly kissed him back. It was obvious they weren’t going back now, Reyes would probably seriously never let her go but she could deal with it and probably piss him off to the point of shackling her to his side in the whole process.
The kiss was rough but she wanted him so she didn’t care. She tugged on his shirt and he grinned and pulled away to take it off and everything else. The sight of him never got old. He tugged the blankets off of her and tore her robe open and off in an expert move. He smelled so good and felt even better as he leaned over her. He kissed her neck gently where the reaper had bitten her. She didn’t want foreplay she just wanted him.
“I just want you.” She told him trying to pull him back up. He chuckled and grinned down at her. “Spread your legs and get ready.” Get ready? She spread her legs for him and found out what he meant when he entered her in one fluid motion and felt bigger? How was that even possible? So, he had been holding back before?
She had no idea what the hell this was but it was rough and fantastic. He gripped her hips almost to the point of bruising having turned her over and was relentlessly pounding into her. His low sounds were driving her even crazier. He rolled her back onto her back and came back in. She moaned his name and he cursed. “You’re so tight.” He ground out. They went for what felt like hours, they had stopped and started back up again she couldn’t get enough of him and he must have felt the same, he was always the initiator. She had bit him to many times to count and he had bitten her everywhere. When they finally stopped she heard slow claps start from the living room and buried her face in his chest embarrassed as he chuckled softly.
Safe to say when she woke back up they were right back at it and the shower took way longer than it should have. It was as she finished getting dressed in a black lace open backed jumpsuit and ankle strap heels and brushing her teeth she realized she hadn’t had her pills. The Cimmerian felt more awake and calm than it ever had. What happened when it wasn’t calm?
She didn’t want to go back to who she once was; she hated even thinking about it. She had killed in cold blood, so many. She would never allow herself to get like that again. She would always have to be careful with her Cimmerian from now on.
Had it merged with her now as one? She pondered this as she exited the bedroom.
She knew Khaos was here, she had heard them together shortly after she and Reyes had gone back at it.
Alex gave her a shit eating grin when she entered the living room of the hotel room. “I thought we could all go to breakfast and then see your friends in the hospital.” Reyes said placing a soft kiss to her lips. She nodded. “My brothers will bring you sisters.” Alex eyed Reyes wearily. “If I wanted to hurt you Alex, I would have done so by now.” Reyes said amused. Alex smiled shyly and rubbed the back of his neck. “I have to admit you pulled that off quite well, I may use you for future reference. Besides I wouldn’t want to take you away from her.” He kissed her again while Alex nervously smiled and said thanks.
She went to Shadow who perked right up. “Hi buddy.” She said happily he seemed fine; he shoved his big head into her arms. They all walked down to the front of hotel Scarlett and Khaos joining them and attached at the hip. Her Cimmerian was lowly whispering and she couldn’t understand it so she stopped trying to listen.
Reyes had his own vehicle hear a Bateyga a luxury suv. He opened her door for her and Alex got in the back. Scarlett and Khaos got in his car with Finn. Sam had gone to the hospital and never came back. “Why are they still in the hospital?” She asked. “They need to be unde
r surveillance..they were…not normal.” That was his nice way of telling her they had some baggage and who wouldn’t? She had no idea what they went through. “Troy isn’t normal, Tracy is just there just in case she has a breakdown, and she seems resilient.” She nodded. Tracy was resilient not Troy.
Run, run, run away
Buy yourself another day
A cold wind's whispering secrets in your ear
So low only you can hear
Run, run, run and hide
Somewhere no one else can find
Tall trees bend and lean pointing where to go
Where you will still be all alone-The civil wars
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
They arrived at Myth Bleu a high end restaurant. As soon as she stepped out of the truck she was ambushed by Clover and Jenna with hugs then did the same to by Scarlett and Chelsea and Cooper right behind them. Reyes was very tolerant of her friends, very unlike him. She wondered what he was up to.
He held her hand as they were seated in a large private room. She was sitting trying to understand her Cimmerian when she glanced at Reyes watching her. She gave him a questioning look and he just kissed her. Neil sat as far away from Storm as he could get causing the brothers and a few of them to laugh. They ate and nothing really happened surprisingly.
They drove to Silver Cross Hospice in relative silence. She chewed the inside of her lip as they got closer to the floor they were on. Reyes stopped her suddenly and wrapped his arms around her. “None of what happened was your fault, they know that, relax.” She nodded at him and he held her hand. Tracy was dressed and blood had done remarkable things for her, whatever they had given her. She was clean, her hair looked healthy as did her skin she was still skinny but she had already gotten some of her shape back.
She practically tackled her in a bear hug. “Widow you’re an idiot, but I love you.” She sighed hugging her. “That was almost exactly what I said.” Reyes said behind her. Reyes and Alex waited outside the door after a minute so they could talk. Reyes could hear everything anyways though. “How do you feel?” She asked her friend. “Me? well, disgustingly skinny but me.” She grinned.
“I’m fine though, it was weird actually they stuck me in there but they never really bothered me, Troy never knew when to shut up so he got a pretty bad deal.” She paused for a minute. “They don’t talk, I was wondering if they even knew how, there like creepy porcelain dolls.” She laughed.
Tracy was set to leave in a week but had a very plush hospital room thanks to Reyes. She hugged her goodbye and told her to text her. Reyes kissed her forehead and led her towards Troy’s room around the corner. His room was quiet. He was just sitting there on the bed staring at the muted TV.
Reyes placed a comforting hand on her back; Alex followed them in as well.
Troy didn’t even react at first. Reyes gestured to right outside the door and she nodded as he left. Alex stayed. “Hey.” Alex said to Troy cautiously. He suddenly snapped his head around and looked straight at her. “Hey guys.” He smiled. He stood up then and stretched he walked towards her and as he did she heard clear as day her Cimmerian saying No.
She didn’t understand what it meant until Troy held out his arms for a hug. Alex raised his brows but moved slightly closer to them. She hadn’t moved and Troy pulled her into his arms. “Let me save you.” He whispered. She was about to ask what he meant but her Cimmerian was one step ahead of her. He tried to slam a scalpel in her neck she hadn’t seen but they knew was coming, she grabbed his arm and twisted it.
Troy yelled “Troy calm down!” Alex gently yelled to him. He bit her, hard on her arm. That really pissed her off she raised her hand and blasted him across the room. Okay she hadn’t wanted to do that, it pissed her and her Cimmerian off. She turned to get the hell out of the room when Troy leapt on her back. Alex charged forward but Reyes was back in the room in a flash and snatched Troy by the back of his neck. Then he saw the bite mark fading and blood.
“Reyes.” She said gently. She knew it was in his nature to kill him but she didn’t want that. “Fucked up or not if you touch her again I will you.” He ground out. Troy nodded his eyes wide. Reyes dropped him roughly and guided her out the room, Alex behind them. They drove back to Reyes hotel in silence. They went back to the room they had originally been in, Alex went to his, Shadow was already here. Reyes paced around for almost an hour his anger seeming to rise before he looked at her and said he needed to go and walked out.
That had been earlier it was six thirty and she was bored. Her sisters weren’t around, she had responded to all her emails and talked to William and David. She heard a light knock on the door and checked the peephole to see who it was.
It was a delivery man with her favorite kind of flowers.
She thanked him and read the little card –Will have dinner there by eight. R . Was this his apology for storming out? She smiled. She sat the flowers on the dining room table and logged onto her laptop. She had a realtor on the hunt for a house for her but she had no idea what she even wanted. This is what she was doing when Reyes came back he leaned in and nuzzled her neck. “What’s this?” He asked looking at the screen. “I can’t live here.” She sighed and shut the laptop. “I just moved there.” She pouted. He didn’t say anything he just kissed her. It started to get deeper but her new phone went off. “Go ahead.” He said.
“Can you come help me.” Alex whined as soon as she picked up. “Help you what?” She laughed. “Outfit choices.” She laughed and said ok. “I’ll be back.” Reyes nodded and she headed to her cureaters room. He swung open the door wrapped in a towel. “Wow Alex.” She smiled jokingly. “I know.” He strutted away. She laughed and shut the door.
“Alex you’ve tried on five outfits.” She groaned when he pulled three more out. “What do you think of Troy.” She asked suddenly. Alex sat by her now at least in a pair of draws. “I think, he’s going to need some help…and..” Alex hesitated. “What is it? Tell me.” She said “I think you should distance yourself from him, I know he’s been part of our group but he likes you way to much Widow and you have Reyes now.” Alex rushed out. “No, I think you’re right.” She nodded.
She had been thinking of that ever since the dinner at Reyes house. Troy felt way too strongly about her and she didn’t want him to do something they could never back bounce from. She didn’t blame him from today he clearly wasn’t the Troy they knew right now. It was sad but she couldn’t change it. “I’m going to wear the first one.” Alex smiled changing the subject and causing her to launch a pillow at him.
She walked down the hall back to her room. She pushed the door open and looked around as she shut it behind her. The lights were low, candles were lit and her favorite flowers were everywhere. She walked a little further and Reyes came to greet her. “What is this?” She asked laughing. “Something you deserve.” He said softly. This was romantic; she didn’t think Reyes did romantic.
“Nice of you to borrow my sidekick.” She laughed knowing Alex was in on it. “I see why you implement him.” He smiled at her. “Here.” He pulled a chair out for her and she sat down. He sat beside her. The dinner was Italian stuffed flank steak, steamed vegetables and a baked potato. He had blood wine as well. They talked about normal things and laughed over Alex’s antics.
He led her to the bedroom after that and a silver cart with a chocolate cake sat in the room also done with flowers and candles. “You did this very fast.” She noted. He winked and grinned. He peeled her out of her jumpsuit and sat her on the bed. “You have a body women slave or pay for and men would kill for.” He said lowly as he eyed her. She smiled. “So do you, well flip that around. Never mind it works both ways.” He laughs lightly.
He gives her a piece of cake and tells her hell be right back. She finishes and just sits staring at the cart. Reyes sits next to her and stares at her deeply. He smells like his usual spicy scent and looks his usual sexy. “I want to finish this little fae.”
She doesn’t know what he’s talk
ing about.
“Finish what?” She asked sitting on her knees now. “Our fusion.” She swore she just heard him wrong. “I’m not going anywhere and we never did it when we should have before, I don’t want to wait anymore, I don’t mean tonight.” He added in at the end.
“In fact, I want to do this right. I want you in the dress and to have a ceremony.” He reaches in his suit jacket and her heart trips. “Will you do me the honor of being my wife little fae?” He pulled out a black velvet box and opens it. Inside is a huge round red ruby ring with white gold diamonds around it as petals. She knows this ring signifies his legion and he would be giving part of that to her as well. She looked at him and then at the ring. Her mind is whirling. She finally nods her head he grinned largely and placed the ring on her ring finger.
